Original rebuilt

This article appears to be suggesting that the hull of the original Adams was rebuilt in the 1870's. This seems exceedingly implausible as the hull shape shown in the photo is quite unlike that of a ship 90 years older. Or was the name of the ship only recycled, which is common ?
