I question this statement in the intro: "It was Sunil Gavaskar who found the VJD system to be more accurate than the D/L system, and he then took great interest to present it to BCCI."

Firstly the citations do not accurately reflect this:
- 1. “But Sunil Gavaskar told me that it would be better if I approach the ICC after trying it out in IPL.”
- 2. "I spent half an hour with the committee headed by former India captain Sunil Gavaskar and answered queries. I was then told that my system would be put into practice in the next edition of IPL (a domestic professional Twenty20 cricket competition in India)," said Jayadevan.

It is fair to deduce that Gavaskar "preferred" the VJD system but without directly cited quotes anything else is subjective.

Secondly the 'accuracy' of such a system (on the article evidence or otherwise) is impossible to gauge. Both D/L and VJD systems present a revised target for a team batting second, to match the total set by a team batting earlier which had a greater number of overs. It is not possible to say how 'accurate' the revised total is because we cannot possibly know how many the first team *would have made* had its overs been similarly limited in advance, or if they had been similarly revised down during the innings. So VJD may be judged to better replicate the likely target, but we cannot say that it does.

Merger proposal

[edit]

Pretty obvious, but Jayadevan's system is about exactly the same topic. 121.74.105.15 (talk) 09:20, 14 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
