Subject Matter Experts needed...
[edit]I had the honor to work with hundreds of pilots, Aircrew and maintainers at VS-38 for 3 years... some of whom spent decades in and around the Viking community. Their technical expertise is beyond reproach, but I have a feeling most haven't been to this Wikipedia section because the "talk" button is relatively invisible on the main page, and they probably don't think this is a "comment" section.
As for VS-38's record in Operation Desert Storm, they flew all 42 nights of the air war, and set many other records. The entire squadron was super motivated and tireless in their round-the-clock duties. Their devotion to duty helped to ensure all Aircrew returned alive.
As an aside, did you know that Iraq had nearly 30,000 SAM and AAA sites before Desert Storm? Now jump into an aircraft that was originally designed to loiter out in the middle of the ocean far from land. It's loud, slow and carries no defensive weapons. And your job is to "get the enemy to open up on you"... every night. Hardball1Alpha (talk) 10:55, 11 August 2023 (UTC)
