Ballast[edit]

With regard to the counter-ballasting, when the tug was listing to port, water was entering the port ballast tanks though the vents, at this point adding water to the stbd side increased the draft,(loss of reserve buoyancy, also know as sinking) regardless if the source of the water was the port tanks or the sea. If the source was the port tanks, the removed water was being replaced by sea water via the vents.CaptCarlsen (talk) 15:13, 29 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
