This article needs a lot of more sources and several could be find in the placebo section. There have been studies that show that visualization is more powerful than the placebo effect. People that are told that they are on placebo and therefore visualizes that it will have effect (as the placebo effect are well known) do have a higher degree of reaction to placebo that control groups that think they may be using experimental medicine (which are not (yet) proved to have any effect).
