On Talk:Vlax Romany language, User:Desiphral states that "The currently Romani language edition of Wikipedia, although it has the code of the Vlax dialect, in fact it is a generic Romani edition". He makes the same statement on the main page talk of the rmy.wikipedia "This wiki is intented for the generic, standard Romani, at its evolution participating all the dialects with equal rights. In this context it is not true that "Kalderashitsko is the standard Romany, as it's the most widespread dialect worldwide". For every word are recorded all the available variants." User:Desiphral is probably the most active editor on rmy.wikipedia, so he should know. Besides being the official purpose of that wiki, which should be taken into account, that principle also seems to be followed to some extent - the pluralism extends even to articles writing in Cyrillic.

That said, I wonder whether a "generic Romani" wikipedia is actually possible - some of the more deviant dialects such as Sinti could hardly be "incorporated" in it.--Anonymous44 (talk) 21:03, 22 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
