War Games

[edit]

Hi. I recently discovered this article. I have a question. Why is NXT TakeOver war Games listed under events and programming? There is no WCW War Games event, it just take the stipulation but tecnically isn't a PPV or programming, like Starrcade, GAB and Clash. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 15:07, 19 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. WarGames should be mentioned, but not in the context of a revived WCW pay-per-event. Sharonaj (talk) 16:05, 19 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Merge

[edit]

Just want to point out something that wasn't acknowledged in the deletion discussion. WCW, Inc. already existed as an article but was merged/redirected to World Championship Wrestling years ago, as its creation was the work of an editor who was getting too hung up on trivial legalities.

To that end, at the very least, this article does not need the parenthetical disambiguator; the actual Turner-owned promotion's legal name spelled out the full name. Only the WWE subsidiary abbreviates it, so having WCW, Inc. redirect as it does is inaccurate from a legal standpoint.

But that also gets to the thrust of my point here. The WWE subsidiary is merely a corporate legal construct and lacks any independent notability. What can be said about it that can't be covered in the history and legacy sections of the World Championship Wrestling article? WCW as a promotion was quite notable. That its tape library and intellectual property are now owned by WWE is notable. That WWE's ownership of such is through a subsidiary is a one-line, fairly trivial factoid. It certainly isn't notable enough for a whole article. Why do we need a separate article for something only lawyers care about? That's why the previous article was merged in the first place. And that's why we should merge them again. oknazevad (talk) 22:32, 14 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Support - This article provides nothing that isnt already included. Nothing to actually merge in my opinion, just redirect it. - Galatz גאליץשיחה Talk 17:32, 9 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
