World War I Sources[edit]

It wasn't the only one![edit]

That's an impressive reading list above.

We now have articles on the 1917 WPC and the 1918 X Committee. I hope we are going to have articles on the 1914-15 War Council, the 1915 Dardanelles Committee and the 1916 War Committee in due course. Once they've been created, they can be worked on and improved.

A lot more work needs to be done on (a) Munitions and (b) Manpower (we don't even have an article on the 1916-18 Manpower Crisis). I guess I may end up doing this when I can find the ruddy time.

And specifically, there was actually another short-lived "War Policy Committee" to discuss manpower and the relative needs of the Army and industry, I think early in 1916 in around autumn 1915 just before the Derby Scheme came in, when it was already beginning to dawn on the politicians that the huge army to whose creation they had rashly agreed was simply beyond Britain's capacity to sustain (it's a bit unfair to blame the initial decision on the generals, even if Robertson's intrigues for conscription make uncomfortable reading nowadays and military demands for manpower did become increasingly ludicrous by 1917-18). I don't think it needs a separate article - just a mention in this article and in the article on conscription/manpower when the latter gets written.
