Wrong author?[edit]

I believe this article links to the wrong David L. Robbins.

The real author's web page is here:

http://www.davidlrobbins.com/bio.html

The David L. Robbins who wrote this book was born in 1954 in Richmond, VA.

The David L. Robbins cited was born in 1950 in PA.

his web page is:

Not the same guy.

True story[edit]

Since the story the novel is based on is most likely a piece of Soviet propaganda (ie. a complete fabrication), I changed the "this book is based on a true story" line to more accurately reflect what's the case here. See the Heinz Thorvald article (this name was misspelled in the article for some reason, so the old link didn't work).

Oh, and what's with the excessive amount of sources? This article is pretty much a stub. Removing most of them. Tchernobog (talk) 11:14, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am going to change the article to reflect that it is based on a true story. Unless some body can prove that vasily zaytsev, the Battle of Stalingrad, Snipers, and World War II are not real or never happened. While the events in the novel may not be true, no one should expect that from a novel based on a true story, as opposed to a true story.Nukeguy04 (talk) 20:57, 4 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Based on a true story" is merely a marketing gimmick. The important for the article is whether it is a fictional or factual work. BP OMowe (talk) 16:22, 28 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Film[edit]

The movie Enemy at the Gates is not based off this book its based off the book Enemy at the Gates go figure —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.200.159.87 (talk) 15:56, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is not true--if you've read Enemy at the Gates. That book is more of a factual historical account. I doubt there's physical evidence of where the movie got its inspiration, but it is much closer to War of the Rats than Enemy at the Gates the book--which is about the entire battle, not just a propaganda story.72.135.16.193 (talk) 20:29, 23 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
