Some issues

[edit]

There seems to be some real issues with this article, the biggest one being that certain passages sound like they came from a product manual. The most egregious example of this can be found in the "purging methods" section, which has what looks like a specific product name followed by the symbol for a registered trademark. If I new anything beyond the most basic knowledge of welding I'd clean it up, the article certainly needs a little tlc... Blarg Kliggle (talk) 01:23, 3 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Made some updates to remove specific product references. Didn't have time to further address some of the 'product manual' issues, but tried to make it a bit more neutral. 67.108.13.66 (talk) 00:21, 12 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Purging methods: Nitrogen insuitable.

[edit]

No reference source or explanation is provided for statement "Nitrogen has been used as a purge gas but is unsuitable for some stainless steels."

Could a reference or further explanation be added.

Q: Which types of stainless welds fail in presence of nitrogen? How? ChgoJohn (talk) 22:07, 6 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

NB: Nitrogen is not included in the page's opening paragraph about "removing, from the vicinity of the joint; oxygen, water vapour and any other gases or vapours that might oxidize or contaminate..."
Should nitrogen be added in ¶§1 as another contaminate? ChgoJohn (talk) 22:11, 6 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
