In this regard, the collection goes against much progress in modern scholarship and trends in attitudes to early music texts. The IMSLP collection offers many scans of publications which are of more trustworthy editorship, or at least clearer origin. On the other side, you must be careful with copyright for many of them are not in the public domain worldwide.
This string is also not completely true:
The predominance of arrangements and dubious editorship of music in this collection makes the files of little value to those who care much for historically accurate performance or integrity of the original texts.
