Split Article?[edit]

I think we should split the article into a Whiting (fish) (disambiguation) page and a separate one for Merlangius. As it is, it informs the reader that the term "Whiting" is used to refer to several species of fish across a couple of distinct genera. But there is also an infobox that gives specific information for the species Merlangius merlangus. Shrumster 00:23, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Support:I definitely agree, over half the article is a disambiguation page while the other half is about M. merlangus and is pretty jumbled. The fact that a whole family (Sillaginidae) are known as whitings would suggest that a brief mention at the top of this article is not enough. I would further propose the article about M. merlangus be moved to English whiting, while this page remains as a disambiguation page. Kare Kare 11:30, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I'll be on it in a couple of hours. (maybe a day or two...got another wikiproject piled up) I'll be moving the specific info to Merlangius merlangus though, as English Whiting is too ambiguous to pinpoint that particular species (and is easily confusable with the tons of other fishes referred to as "whiting") per Wikipedia:WikiProject_Fishes#Fish_names_and_article_titles.
