Many people

Whoa, ok, these last sentences: "Many people feel that Casey's death was convenient, as he avoided testifying at an investigatory committee to be held just days later, the purpose of which was to look into CIA involvement in Iran Contra scandal. His brain cancer was very sudden and killed him just in time."

I'm not an expert on this guy at all, but the word "many" has no place in an encyclopedia.

(OK then, what about SOME people, or SOME CONSPIRACY THEORISTS...??? You gotta admit that Casey's sudden death (at a relatively young age) could be reasonably viewed by some people to be quite suspicious, especially given the fact that he was scheduled to testify at an investigatory committee just a few days later.) So far as I'm concerned, all sins in Wikipedia are forgiven if you can cite a reliable source. Just stating "some" is hedging, which just won't do on an encyclopedia. Find the source (doesn't have to be an online source -- could be a journal article or book chapter or something) and cite it and then feel free to include it. Ryanluck 04:47, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Also, the insinuation is that the death of the Director of Central Intelligence was staged to avoid embarassment to the President -- without supporting evidence, I don't think that should go into this article. I'm removing the sentences. Feel free to replace them if evidence can be found to support them.

POV

How about "Casey oversaw the reexpansion of the Intelligence Community, in particular the CIA, to funding and human resource levels extant before resource cuts of the Carter Administration. During his tenure restrictions on the use of the CIA to directly, covertly influence the internal and foreign affairs of countries relevant to American policy were also lifted." I met Bill Casey a year before he died. It was at a private luncheon. I thought he had late phase dementia. He was incapable of having a coherent conversation. Barely capable of feeding himself. Last Words

I am fairly certain it was reported at the time of his death that his last words on his deathbed were something like, They'll never figure it out.

Unfortunately, I can't find a reference, but I love that, if it's true. The master spy leaves a riddle in his dying breath that leaves us wondering if it's a serious lament, a last fearful hope or a wild joke. KenJackson.US (talk) 14:10, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
