The lead section needs context

[edit]

The lead tells us that it includes two manuscripts, but not what the Winchester Troper is. Why do two different manuscripts in two different locations have one name? Aside from the etymology of troper, the article does not explain when it acquired that name, who gave it that name, and when. Is there any duplication of material in the two documents, or are they something like Volume 1 and Volume 2? How many pages, are they hardbound, are they paper-clipped together? I think the information in the first section, "Manuscripts of the Winchester Troper", should be incorporated into the lead, and would not make the lead too large. Major Revisions in December 2020

[edit]

As part of a WikiEdu project, I have significantly revised this article by adding citations and missing information, much of which was addressed by Chris the speller in his critiques on the lead. The article now contains additional headings and more information about dating, the manuscripts, the tropes, the organa, and the contents more generally. Most of the information from before the revision is still found in the article, but it may have been qualified, cited, rearranged, or expanded. Chandlerhall2 (talk) 18:00, 9 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
