The Wine Spectator "experts" ranking California wines ahead of Bordeaux? Gee, there's a shocker.

Why did the experts picked very bad French Bordeaux vintages? 1970 is the worst vintage available for Chateau Haut-Brion in the market on a 50 years span... Château Leoville Las Cases 1971 has a 73 out of 100 notation by Robert Parker. They are not good vintages at all. 18:08, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

Allegation of hoax is a hoax!

Not only is this allegation a hoax but a very amateurish one at that. "Experts" didn't select the wines or vintages. They were all selected for the Paris Wine Tasting of 1976 by Francophile Parisian wine dealer Steven Spurrier who only sold French wine and later said "I thought I had it rigged for the French wines to win." He suffered professionally and economically because the US wines won. What are you talking about? In 1976, the best Califorinan almost matched bad Bordeaux Reds. Sure Bordeaux wineries were lying on their wine quality and are still providing fake vintages charts. I believe 1976's tasting was of good faith, but 1986, 2006 are commerical manipulations from Californian "experts". Thanks to the wine industry business, only the consumer get screwed, not Bordeaux still selling at ridiculous prices some of its worst vintages, and certainly not Napa fermentation industry! Anyway, anyone knowing about wines, knows that public "blind tasting" by experts has no value since they are far from being blind with wines! In addition, for sample, anyone can check that a Haut-Brion is not a 75% Cabernet! More around 50% Cabernet, 25% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc… This article was a joke, a hoax. The vintages chart reference, used by Californian "experts", for Bordeaux "exceptional vintage" is a commercial joke, not corresponding to consumers, wines experts, market and French National official sources, please look at it!!! Only someone not knowing, or lying about Bordeaux red vintages would call the year 1970 "exceptional".Dragolight 00:29, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

Many people intensely and understandably dislike the results of the Wine Spectator Wine Tasting of 1986 wine competition; you can enjoy the company of a very large group of people. However, you've provided no evidence of either a hoax or a conspiracy. The allegations in "French Bordeaux competition" are not supported by, nor are they consistent with, CellarMNotes and other sources of price information.
