This association is significant because it represents an unusually large number of senior corporate executives, university leaders, and hospital administrators. Few non-profit consortiums can boast this level of participation. The data can be verified because these executives would not allow a rogue website to feature their portraits and list them as supporters: there are plenty of elements that police against that sort of misuse.
It's also significant because the subject matter is increasingly relevant. Given the amount of electronic document signing that is now going on, it's actually quite surprising that no standards body has been created before now. It's not hard to imagine that, 10-15 years from now, almost all transactions will be done without paper. That makes the group that intends to promulgate the standards very notable indeed. --wmbsh (talk) 17:06, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
