@CaradhrasAiguo: I made some mistakes in my previous edits. Thank you for correcting me, and let me know what you think Geographyinitiative (talk) 15:10, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I don't want to do a second revert in fewer than 3 hours, please self-revert this. CaradhrasAiguo (leave language) 15:13, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@CaradhrasAiguo: I am making a disambiguation page for English speakers who may not know about Liaoning. Geographyinitiative (talk) 15:16, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

They can click through and see Liaoning is wholly controlled by the PRC. No one will mistake either place for a non-Chinese speaking region. CaradhrasAiguo (leave language) 15:22, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I am writing for people who do not know where this location is. Geographyinitiative (talk) 15:29, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Which is why they can click through. Disambiguation pages are not for forcing through a particular POV. CaradhrasAiguo (leave language) 15:33, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Imagine the word Xigang appears in an article on CNN. The reader wants to know more, and they type in Xigang on Wikipedia. We shouldn't assume they will know Liaoning is in China without that information. This helps. To exclude the country name is an objective harm to the encyclopedia. Geographyinitiative (talk) 15:50, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
We assume people know U.S. states (high-profile example) and English counties by name, despite them being much less populated than Liaoning and less historically significant. These double standards are harmful.
Anyhow, changing to qualify "China" to avoid heinous POV issues. CaradhrasAiguo (leave language) 15:56, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I see your argument there, and I would personally believe that 'USA' or similar should indeed follow state names. I rarely make USA edits. Does this happen with other countries beside the USA and UK? France for instance? I don't know. Geographyinitiative (talk) 16:01, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
