Team Taranaki is an semi-professional association football club based in the Taranaki region, New Zealand and they are competing in the Central Premier League.
The club was formed in 2003 as a composite team for Central Premier League competition, involving players from individual clubs in the Taranaki region. The club plays its home matches at Pukekura Park, New Plymouth.
Club history
The club was relegated from the Central League in 2007, to be replaced with Gisborne City. However, Gisborne City elected not to exercise their right to promotion as part of a club rebuilding strategy, and as such Team Taranaki were allowed to remain in the competition.
Present day
Taranaki selectors included Samoan international Desmond Fa'aiuaso when they named their 2010 season squad,[1] however he was released after having only played 2 full games to return to Samoa for personal reasons.[2] This proved to be temporary, and Fa'aiuaso returned to Team Taranaki's starting line-up the following week.[3]
