Template:AMS election box with party link/doc

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Overview[edit]

This set of templates creates a table to record the results of elections using the Additional Members System, including elections to the Scottish Parliament, Welsh Senedd and London Assembly. The system is also used in Germany for elections to the federal Bundestag and the state Landtags, as well as in New Zealand (although election articles there generally use the {{MMP election box}} set of templates).

Usage[edit]

1. Use {{AMS election box begin}} to create the title and header.

2. Use an {{AMS election box with party link}} template for each party or independent candidate that is contesting either the constituency, list, or both. There are variations on this depending on the situation:

3. Below this you can put additional information about the election:

4. Then you can add a row describing the result of the constituency vote

5. Finish the table off with {{AMS election box end}}, making sure to insert it on a new row. This adds a {{notelist}} template automatically.

Information[edit]

winner denotes that the candidate has the most constituency votes. list_winner denotes that the candidate's party has the most list votes (within the constituency).

To use these templates, put yes after the appropriate field. Most of the time the first-place candidate will win the list vote as well, but if this isn't the case then only fill in the winner field. You can then fill in the list_winner field for the party who won on the list.

The status field produces a footnote with extra information about the candidate. Available arguments are:

  • status= incumbent "Incumbent member for this constituency"
  • status= list_elected "Elected on the party list"
  • status= list_incumbent "Incumbent member on the party list or for another constituency"

Leave the field blank to omit it. A {{notelist}} template is generated under the table if you use {{AMS election box end}}.
