Template:Cite American Factfinder2
Template:Cite American Factfinder2 generates a reference (using Template:Cite web) to Geographic Comparison Tables from the 2000 United States census via the United States Census Bureau's American FactFinder website (http://factfinder2.census.gov). Includes land area, water area, and population density for counties, county subdivisions and cities. Template:American Factfinder2 generates URLs for this template and should not be used separately.
Note: Template is only for the 50 U.S. States, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. It will not generate information for the other U.S. territories.
Usage

type
: Use 1 to generate state-level tables or 2 to generate county-level tables.
id
: The FIPS Code a state or county within that state. Use just the two digit FIPS code for state-level tables. Add the three digit county FIPS code as well for county-level tables. For Zip Code Tabulation Areas, use the first three digits of the ZIP code. Find State and County FIPS Codes here.- Code for North Dakota is 38. The code for Adams County, North Dakota is 38001.
type2
: The specific type of data you want displayed. Choices are state, county, place, tribe, or urban (for urban/rural comparisons). ANCR or native_HI can also be used for Alaska Native lands and Native Hawaiian lands respectively.
name
: Not used as of October 2015
accessdate
: date of web page visit
Citation
[edit]{{Cite American Factfinder2}} All parameters are required. Parameters can be named or unnamed. The template will generate a named URL including the name of the American Factfinder table being cited along with the article title as the anchor text.

Generally, you will want to specify the date you accessed the American Factfinder database using the fifth parameter (also named accessdate
). The template uses January 31, 2008 by default, but you can select a different date if you choose:

[edit]- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency lists state and county FIPS Codes here.
- Search the Geographic Names Information System for individual locations.
- The Missouri Census Data Center also has complied a master list of state, county, city, and other location FIPS codes.
