Template:Cite Grove Jazz/doc

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This template provides a quick, standard method of citing The New Grove Dictionary of Jazz (2002) for music-related articles in Wikipedia.

Usage

[edit]

The syntax with typical parameters is as follows:

{{cite Grove Jazz
  |title = Lodovico Zacconi
  |last = Singer
  |first = Gerhard
  |volume = xx
  |pages = 611–612
}}

Singer, Gerhard (2002). "Lodovico Zacconi". In Kernfeld, Barry (ed.). The New Grove Dictionary of Jazz. Vol. xx. London: Macmillan. pp. 611–612.

All parameters are strictly speaking optional, in which case a general citation is generated:

{{cite Grove Jazz}}

Kernfeld, Barry, ed. (2002). The New Grove Dictionary of Jazz. London: Macmillan. {{cite encyclopedia}}: Missing or empty |title= (help)

However, it is strongly encouraged to include at least |title=, |last=, |first=, |volume=, and |pages=. This template is a wrapper around {{cite encyclopedia}} and supports all the same functionality and parameters (including |mode=cs2).
