This template is used on approximately 3,700 pages and changes may be widely noticed. Test changes in the template's /sandbox or /testcases subpages, or in your own user subpage. Consider discussing changes on the talk page before implementing them.

This template provides a semi-automated system for updating the current leagues and previous season performance of football clubs in England. In order to reduce its size, it uses a list of leagues at {{ENGLs}}.

When to update the updater

Individual divisions should be updated after the last round of matches are played. Please do not update individual clubs before the season end, even if their finishing position cannot change.
New divisions (for the following season after promotion/relegation) should only be updated when all leagues in the pyramid have completed their season (including play-offs). This ensures consistency across the football club article set. If an editor makes these changes before all leagues are finished, some clubs may be listed as playing in leagues they have been promoted/relegated to, but which are still ongoing.
