Template:Listed building England
This template is to provide simple links inline, or as a hat note to the Historic England — National Heritage List for England (NHLE) database (https://HistoricEngland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/) for a specified listed building or object in England. It provides an optional {{sfn}}
reference that is compatible to, and should be used with {{National Heritage List for England}}
. Used with no optional parameters, it acts identically to {{National Heritage List for England}}
, allowing the Wikimedia commons Template:Listed building England to be cut and pasted directly into an article, and raw numbers in infoboxes to be replaced using the same text.
For historical reasons, Historic England maintains several databases for listed buildings - each with different index numbers. The index number used here is the definitive that lists all listed buildings, scheduled monuments and battlefields. This is the number used here. Images of England (IoE), which uses a different number, records a snapshot of those listed at the turn of the millennium, but does include a photograph.
The database also contains the following registered historic locations or sites in England:
- Historic Parks and Gardens
- Scheduled monuments
- Protected wrecks
- Historic battlefields
- World Heritage sites
Redirects
Templates Lbe, LbE, and LBE redirect to here. Anywhere {{Listed building England}} is used the three-letter acronym {{Lbe}}, {{LbE}}, or {{LBE}} can all be used instead.
Usage
Required parameter
- {{{1}}}: the 'list entry number' from the database (not the same as the IoE number used by Images of England). If used alone, it just displays the number, which is linked to the National Heritage List for England database entry.
Optional parameters
Additional information for the title:
- grade: to display the grade of a listed building; enter as II, II* or I
- title: used in make-footer to add text to a
{{National Heritage List for England}}
if the page name does not suffice - location: to identify the location of a listed building; it will usually be a county; it appears in the generated category
- lbe-no-cat: if called, stops a category being generated; use any value or none (for backwards compatibility, the template also supports no-cat, but should no longer be used as it is also used by other templates thereby making it difficult to find invocations of the lbe template using this feature, whereas lbe-no-cat is unique as a search string and includes the former no-cat pattern as well.)
- no-ref: if called, stops a reference being generated; use any value or none
- ds: (dataset) defaults to 'Listed building', but can be to other text if desired, typically 'Ancient monument'
- ps: (post-script) defaults to a period (
.
), but can be to other text if desired - note: if called, adds a reference with an external link into the {{notelist}}; use any value or none, defaults to Historic England
- make-footer: is a developer option to generate the
{{National Heritage List for England}}
to include in the bibliography; the text generated can be cut and pasted in the editor; switch off before publishing
