Template:Matronymic name

This is a matronymic name. The person is referred to as Matronymic and not as name.

Parameters

{{Matronymic name|GivenName|Matronymic}}

The template has two optional parameters

• GivenName – The given name of the subject. If left blank this will default to the first word of the page title
• Matronymic – The inherited name of the subject. If left blank this will default to the second word of the page title

Usage

This template may be used at the top of an article to explain to readers which part of a matronymic name should be used to refer to the person in formal contexts. Matronymic names contain no family or last name. The person adapts the given name of their mother, and sometimes also their grandmother afterwards.

Note, that a matronymic name is not to be confused with a matrilineal name. Matrilineal names are surnames but not matronymic names.
