Template:NZ election box begin/doc

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This page is the documentation for MMP candidate box templates, used for New Zealand general elections since 1996.

These candidate box templates are for displaying a list of candidates in an MMP election. They contain examples of code that wiki-editors can copy and paste (and edit) to produce the tables shown below. The entries are sorted by descending candidate surname. After the election was held, the template can be amended to show the results.

Example of a candidate box:

1999 general election: Albany [1]
Notes:

 Blue background  denotes an incumbent.
 Pink background  denotes a current list MP.
 Yellow background  denotes a retiring MP.

Parameters

[edit]
 • 1 = Country (but parameter is not used, as it's always "New Zealand");
 • 2 = Year;
 • 3 = ElectorateName;
 • 4 = Refs

Table heading

[edit]

All tables start with:

{{NZ election box begin || year=Election year | Electorate name |

Example
{{NZ election box begin || year=1999 | Albany |

Candidates

[edit]

List candidates in alphabetical order by surname.

Incumbent candidates

[edit]
Electorate incumbents

Incumbents who won the electorate vote at the last general election, or a by-election:

Blank template for copy-paste:

List incumbents

Incumbents who stood in the electorate at the last general election, were beaten in the electorate vote, but entered via their party list:

Other candidates

[edit]
Candidates from registered parties

Blank template for copy-paste:

{{NZ election box candidate

Candidates from minor parties

Minor parties are those that are registered but do not submit a party list, or are unregistered parties that thus cannot provide a party list.

If political party meta attributes have been defined, omit the color parameter and enter the party name as follows:

Blank template for copy-paste:

Independent candidates

Independent candidates are not on a party list. Blank template for copy-paste:
