Template:PD-US-expired-abroad/doc

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This template adds the Images published abroad that are in the public domain in the United States category.

IMPORTANT FEATURE

Using

{{PD-US-expired-abroad|out_of_copyright_in=YEAR}}

will automatically ask mark the image as eligible to be moved to Commons at the appropriate time. Remember that copyright expires at the start of the year after. For instance, an author who died in 1954 in a country with a copyright term of life + 70 years goes out of copyright - not 70 years after their date of death, in 2024, but on January 1, 2025.

Example of usage:

{{PD-US-expired-abroad|out_of_copyright_in=2025}}

For an author who died in 1954 in a life+70 country.

Alternative, shorter usage:

{{PD-US-expired-abroad|2025}}

Same circumstances.
