Template:Painting index/doc

This is the {{Painting index}} or painting index article template.

It can be used to mark a page as a set index article about paintings. A painting index article lists multiple paintings, preferably with a description of their date and creator.

This template is usually placed at the bottom of the page and adds the page to Category:Set index articles on paintings.

Usage

This template can be used without any parameters like this:

{{Painting index}}

Editors may want to control how the page is sorted in Category:Set index articles on paintings. This is accomplished by adding the sort key as the "name=" parameter.
For example, The Mocking of the Christ is sorted using:

{{Painting index|name=Mocking of Christ, The}}

or, in short:

{{Painting index|Mocking of Christ, The}}
