Purpose
[edit]Use this template set to close discussions at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion (Rfd). Rfd top has one parameter and does not populate a category. The parameter name "result" may be used if the contents of the parameter contains an equal sign (=).
This template must be used in conjunction with {{rfd bottom}} as described below. The templates wrap a closed discussion inside an orange box. When the daily log page is transcluded, the entire closed discussion is hidden and a link to the discussion is displayed instead.
Usage
[edit]- Place this top template on the line just below the redirect's section header:
{{subst:rfd top|'''result'''.}} [Additional comments.] ~~~~
- This template is used with a bottom template:
{{subst:rfd bottom}}
- Be sure to place this bottom template at the very bottom of the redirect's discussion.
- If the closer is not an administrator, then the term "non-admin closure" should be included in the "Additional comments".
Context awareness
[edit]Module:RfD close uses keyword detection to insert an icon based on the parameter of this template. The icon is displayed when the daily log is transcluded, for example onto the main Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion page. Therefore, the use of these keywords in the first (or result
) parameter of this template is highly encouraged:
- Keep, Refine, or Withdraw (for "nomination withdrawn")
- Delete
- Retarget or Soft redirect
- Disambig (which catches "disambiguation", "disambiguate" etc), DAB, SIA, or set index
- No consensus
- , which means "bespoke result", is inserted automatically if keywords from multiple groups above are detected, or if the
result
field is supplied but it does not trigger any keyword. - is inserted if the parameter of the template is empty.
All keywords are case-insensitive.
