Quality assessment[edit]

The first table below gives a brief description of possible quality scale values. Before assigning any article to a class, please take a few moments and read the full description of the Version 1.0 Editorial Team's Assessment system.

An article's quality assessment is generated from the class parameter in the {{WikiProject Somalia}} project banner on its talk page:

{{WikiProject Somalia|class=???}}

The following values may be used for the class parameter to describe the quality of the article (see Wikipedia:Quality scale for assessment criteria):

FA (for featured articles only; adds articles to Category:FA-Class WikiProject Somalia articles) Featured article FA
A (adds articles to Category:A-Class WikiProject Somalia articles) A-Class article A
GA (for good articles only; adds articles to Category:GA-Class WikiProject Somalia articles)  GA
B (adds articles to Category:B-Class WikiProject Somalia articles) B-Class article B
C (adds articles to Category:C-Class WikiProject Somalia articles) C-Class article C

For pages that are not articles, the following values can also be used for the class parameter:

Category (for categories; adds pages to Category:Category-Class WikiProject Somalia articles) Category page Category
Disambig (for disambiguation pages; adds pages to Category:Disambig-Class WikiProject Somalia articles) Disambiguation page Disambig
Draft (for drafts; adds pages to Category:Draft-Class WikiProject Somalia articles)  Draft
File (for files and timed text; adds pages to Category:File-Class WikiProject Somalia articles)  File

Importance assessment[edit]

Each article may also be assigned a particular importance.

An article's importance assessment is generated from the importance parameter in the {{WikiProject Somalia}} project banner on its talk page:

{{WikiProject Somalia|importance=???}}

The following values may be used for the importance parameter to describe the relative importance of the article within the project:

Top (adds articles to Category:Top-importance WikiProject Somalia articles)  Top
High (adds articles to Category:High-importance WikiProject Somalia articles)  High
Mid (adds articles to Category:Mid-importance WikiProject Somalia articles)  Mid
Low (adds articles to Category:Low-importance WikiProject Somalia articles)  Low
NA (adds articles to Category:NA-importance WikiProject Somalia articles)  NA
??? (articles for which a valid importance rating has not yet been provided are listed in Category:Unknown-importance WikiProject Somalia articles  ???

The importance parameter should be assigned according to the importance scale below.

Optional parameters[edit]

  • needs-infobox – set |needs-infobox=yes if the article needs an infobox. Remember that infoboxes are not suitable for all articles, and can overwhelm short articles.
  • category – set |category=no if, and only if, a banner is being used for demonstration or testing purposes, to prevent unnecessary or undesirable categorization. Otherwise, omit this parameter.
  • listas – This parameter, which is the equivalent of the DEFAULTSORT sortkey that should be placed on all biographical articles, is a sortkey for the article talk page (e.g. for first name last name, use |listas=Last name, first name so that the talk page will show up in the L's and not the f's of the various assessment and administrative categories). This is important because it is one source used by those who set DEFAULTSORT on the article; consider also setting the DEFAULTSORT for the article when setting this parameter. For more information about this, please see Wikipedia:Categorization of people#Ordering names in a category.
    It is not required if another WikiProject template on the same page has its own |listas= set, since it not only affects categories used by the banner in which it is set, but it also affects the sortkey of all other banners and templates.
  • small – set |small=yes to display a small version of the template aligned along the right side of the page (as opposed to at the top). This parameter does not work as expected if the banner template is enclosed in {{WikiProject banner shell}} or any of its redirects.
