Hey, the picture for Garowe is wrong, this is presidential place in Bosaaso, not Garowe, please correct it, also there is QUESTION MARK on Population of the cities, for example the latest ID registration in Somaliland's Hargeysa shows just over 500,000, Baidoa and Bardhere are well over exaggerated, also Mogadishu and Bosaaso.

Bosaso does not have 1 million people and Beledweyne does not have a mere 100k people... something is wrong FAH1223 (talk) 17:47, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You're perhaps right about the figures, but we'll never really know since there are no reliable ones to be found. Various sources post vastly contradictory numbers, so it's anyone's guess as to what the real population is in any given Somali city. The source provided also looks dubious, and neither your edit nor anyone else's matches its numbers anyway so there's nothing doing here either. Middayexpress (talk) 00:57, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Corrected Bari to point at [Bari,_Somalia] not [Bari], which is an Italian town -64.129.167.137 (talk) 21:58, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Population data way off, and do not correspond with respective articles

[edit]

As noted above, the population of these cities is off, often way off. They are also not using accurate information, and all come from one source that is not verifiable. We need to make this accurate according to recent, reliable sources, and the population data in respective articles needs to correspond.

The primary problem with the population numbers is that IPs constantly fiddle with the figures (putting their city of origin in a more advanced position on the list, etc.), both here and on the cities' respective articles. The way to deal with this is to source the figures and also include a note in the code to the effect that the numbers are not to be tampered with. I've just done that with a source used throughout Wikipedia, except for Bosaso, Mogadishu, Hargeisa and Galkacyo, which have rapidly changing population totals. Thanks. How did you include that in the code? NittyG (talk) 18:15, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, i see it... But how will that prevent anything? NittyG (talk) 18:21, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No prob. The code is mainly a way of directly communicating with the IPs since that can be difficult to do the traditional way. Middayexpress (talk) 01:41, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
