Template:Designation is permanently protected from editing because it is a heavily used or highly visible template. Substantial changes should first be proposed and discussed here on this page. If the proposal is uncontroversial or has been discussed and is supported by consensus, editors may use {{edit template-protected}} to notify an administrator or template editor to make the requested edit. Usually, any contributor may edit the template's documentation to add usage notes or categories.

Any contributor may edit the template's sandbox. Functionality of the template can be checked using test cases.

This template was considered for deletion on 2017 June 6. The result of the discussion was "keep".

Registered battlefield

Entering "Registered battlefield" in Template:Infobox historic site brings up "Invalid designation". Can this be fixed please? Cnbrb (talk) 13:43, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

According to the template documentation, the accepted values are "NHLE Battlefields" and "UK Registered Battlefields". There are also similar values for US battlefields. – Jonesey95 (talk) 14:57, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Description of suggested change: Change of color for the Historic Monument of Poland. The official website of the designation (nid.pl/pomniki-historii/) does include the visual identification manual, which identifies two colors for this designation:

darker #78776D (RGB R: 120 G: 119 B: 109),
and lighter #969488 (RGB R: 150 G: 148 B: 136).

Template creators do suggest lighter colors (Template:Designation#Color selection).

Proposal to add a designation for Basque Cultural Heritage.

The register must be an official designation consisting of a reasonable number of sites. As of 2019, there were more than 11,000 listed sites (newspaper article mentioning the number).
There must be an article about the register on Wikipedia. There is an article (Basque Cultural Heritage) with an external link to the list with all sites.
The register's scope must be identified. State/provincial, in the Basque Autonomous Community of Spain.
Text and a color scheme must be chosen for the designation. The text should be "Basque Cultural Heritage". There doesn't seem to be an official color associated with the register, but green is often associated with the Basque Country (for example, #67D68A ).
Valid callnames must be chosen for the designation. BASQUE CULTURAL HERITAGE, with BASQUE and BASQUE COUNTRY as fallback values.

Proposal to add a designation for Iran National Heritage List.

The register must be an official designation consisting of a reasonable number of sites. As of 2012, there were more than 26,666 listed sites (a list of registered sites).
There must be an article about the register on Wikipedia. There is an article (Iran National Heritage List).
The register's scope must be identified. National.
Text and a color scheme must be chosen for the designation. The text should be "Iran National Heritage List". There doesn't seem to be an official color associated with the register, but a Khaki shade seems appropriate (for example, #C3B091 ).
Valid callnames must be chosen for the designation. Iran National Heritage List, with INHL and Iran and Iran National Heritage as fallback values.

Proposal to add a designation for Cultural Monuments of Lithuania.

The register must be an official designation consisting of a reasonable number of sites. As of 2024, there were more than 26,000 listed sites (Official stats).
There must be an article about the register on Wikipedia. There is an article (Registry of Cultural Property (Lithuania)) with an external link to the list with all sites.
The register's scope must be identified. National, Republic of Lithuania.
Text and a color scheme must be chosen for the designation. The text should be "Cultural Monument of Lithuania". here doesn't seem to be an official color associated with the register, but #001a94 from the official seal of a heritage site should suffice.
Valid callnames must be chosen for the designation. CULTURAL MONUMENT OF LITHUANIA, with LITHUANIA and CMLL as fallback values.
