What is the point?[edit]

Why should someone use its' picture instead of the actual § sign? --eugrus (talk) 14:39, 11 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have the same question. The template may be easier to analyse by semantic analysers of the source text, but sending an image instead of text seems a bad way to use bandwidth. Boud (talk) 15:08, 30 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion regarding image use[edit]

There is a discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Templates#Images in templates regarding how to handle templates that were created to insert images of typographic characters.
