Thakar (caste)

Thakar are a caste of Maharashtra, India. With other castes, such as the Kunbi, Lohar and Dhangar, some families within it form a part of the Maratha community. Primarily a native tribe, some members of the community then earned social status by giving service to residents of villages.[1]
