The Charlotte News was the afternoon newspaper in Charlotte, North Carolina. The newspaper was eventually purchased by its larger rival, The Charlotte Observer but continued to be published until 1985.

The journalist Patrick McCauley, editor of The Huntsville Times from 1966 to 1994, worked at The Charlotte News from 1959 to 1960.[1]
