The Intern is an upcoming American comedy film directed by Nancy Meyers. The film stars Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway.
Warner Bros. Pictures will distribute The Intern in the United States, Canada, and internationally.
Plot
Jules Ostin (Anne Hathaway), the founder of a fashion based e-commerce company, agrees to a community outreach program where a senior, Ben Whittaker (Robert De Niro), will intern at the firm.

Production
Originally set up at Paramount Pictures, The Intern was planned to feature Tina Fey and Michael Caine in the lead roles. When a budget couldn’t be settled, Meyers then decided to pre-package before going out to other studios and was able to start negotiations for both actors.[3] Handed over to Warner Bros, Fey was replaced by Reese Witherspoon as the attached star, though she left the film on January 15, 2014 due to scheduling conflicts.[3] On February 7, Anne Hathaway was in final talks to replace Witherspoon for the lead role in the film.[1] Stephen Goldblatt would be director of photography.[4] On June 23, Zack Pearlman joined the cast of the film.[2]
Filming
The principal photography of the film began on June 23, 2014 in Brooklyn, New York City,[4][5] where De Niro was spotted on the set of the film.[6]
