Penspen has been providing engineering, project management, asset management, and integrity services to the energy industry worldwide for over 70 years. Originally founded in the UK in 1954 as Spencer & Partners, the company has now grown to include over 1,100 employees, with offices in the United Kingdom, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Latin America, and The United States.
The company has conducted the front-end engineering design for the Greece–Italy[1][2] and Nabucco[3] pipelines, feasibility studies for the Trans-Saharan gas pipeline[4] and Azerbaijan–Georgia–Romania Interconnector,[5] developed integrity policies and procedures for Pemex.[6]
In 2007–2012, Penspen in cooperation with Manchester Jetline and Newcastle University researched the feasibility of using trained dogs to detect leaks in pipelines.[7]
