Story

Straker allows a UFO to land in England in the hope of sending out SHADO's mobile operatives to capture it and its occupants. However, the UFO self destructs and a lone alien wanders away. Close to the landing site Liz Newton is conspiring with her lover to murder Liz's husband, Jack. They plan to shoot Jack upon arriving home is foiled when an alien instead appears, and they shoot him instead.

Foster and his investigation team arrive and cart the couple off to SHADO headquarters. There they are given amnesia drugs to make them forget the shooting of the alien.

When Jack returns to the cottage where Foster is he realises the couple's murderous plan. Straker realises they cannot share this information with the authorities as they would want to know how they obtained it. The final shot shows the lovers looking at a grave, their ultimate plan having been carried out.[4]
