Professor Thomas J. Near Ph.D. is an American evolutionary ichthyologist who is currently a Professor and Chair of the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology[4] at Yale University as well as the Bingham Oceanographic Curator of Ichthyology at the Peabody Museum of Natural History. On February 27, 2015[5], Yale University President Peter Salovey and Yale College Dean Jonathan Holloway announced that Near would become the 18th Head of College of Saybrook College.[6]
