Early life

Mann was born in Portland, Oregon. He has lived in Dallas, Texas, since he was 2 years old.[2] Mann started playing ice hockey when he was 5 years old. He attended R.L. Paschal high school.

Acting career

In 2009 Mann made his Acting debut on the Nickelodeon Sitcom television series iCarly.[3] In October 2010 Mann made his film debut alongside Emma Roberts and Zach Galifianakis in the Comedy Drama film It's Kind of a Funny Story.[4] The film which centers on a depressed teenager whom gets a new start after checking himself into an adult psychiatric ward[5] received generally favorable reviews from critics.[6]

That same year Thomas Mann was cast as the protagonist in the Comedy film Project X.[7] Mann was told he could not audition for Project X because producers only wishes to cast people without acting credits; Mann was ultimately given the role after auditioning seven times.[8] The film centers on Mann's character Thomas Kub who throws a house party for his birthday that becomes totally out of hand. Filming began in June that same year in Los Angeles, California on a $12 million budget.[9] The film was released to negative reviews from critics[10] but was a box office success and went on to gross over $100 million worldwide.[11] A planned sequel is in development stages and it is unknown whether or not Mann will return.[12]

In April 2011 Mann was confirmed to star in the Paramount Pictures Teen Comedy film Fun Size alongside Victorious Star Victoria Justice.[13] The film centers on Justice's character whose brother goes missing when she goes to her crush's party.[14] Inclement weather delayed filming till the start of 2012.[15] The film is marked as The O.C. and Gossip Girl Creator Josh Schwartz's directional film debut and is to be released in October 2012.[16]
