Todd Nichols (born August 10, 1967) is an American guitarist,[1][2][3] singer, and songwriter,[4] best known as the lead guitarist of the alternative rock band Toad the Wet Sprocket.

Career

Toad the Wet Sprocket

Nichols formed Toad the Wet Sprocket with high school friends Glen Phillips, Dean Dinning, and Randy Guss in 1986. Since then, Nichols has played guitar and sung in the group. The band achieved commercial success with their album fear (1991), with hits such as "Walk on the Ocean" and "All I Want"; both receiving heavy radio airplay.

Their most recent releases are New Constellation (2013) and Architect of the Ruin (EP) (2015).

Lapdog

After the breakup of Toad the Wet Sprocket in July 1998, Nichols, along with Dean Dinning, Randy Guss, and Rob Taylor, formed a project called Lapdog. They released their debut album in July 2000, titled Near Tonight (2000). In 2003, they released their final album Mayfly (2003).

Personal life

Nichols graduated from San Marcos Senior High in 1985, along with bandmate Dean Dinning.

He currently resides in Mammoth Lakes, California.
