Toontown Rewritten is a community server for Disney's now-closed game Toontown Online that shut down in September 19, 2013. The game is developed by a team of developers from a social network called Toonbook. The lead developer, joey19982 (Toontown YouTuber and founder of Toonbook), has had the project in progress ever since the following day of Toontown Online's shut down. Alpha keys have been given to winners of a Knock Knock Contest on the Toontown Central forums. Alpha keys give access for early registration to play the Alpha version of the game. Funds from Toonbook are given for the server costs for the rewritten game.
