Flashpoint Chicago is an accredited, private college located in Chicago, Illinois, US. It offers two- and four-year degree programs in media, arts, and communication.

History

Founded in 2007 as Flashpoint, The Academy of Media Arts and Sciences, the college entered a 50/50 partnership with Tribeca Enterprises, the company established by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff best known for producing the Tribeca Film Festival, in April 2010. At the time of the partnership, Flashpoint was renamed Tribeca Flashpoint Media Arts Academy. In 2012, Sterling Capital Partners, a private equity firm, became the majority owner of Tribeca Flashpoint Academy. In April 2015, the school announced that it had become Tribeca Flashpoint College.

In February 2018, Tribeca Flashpoint College completed a merger with Columbia College Hollywood, ending its association with Tribeca Enterprises.[1] The college became known as Flashpoint Chicago, a campus of Columbia College Hollywood. Following the merger, the college became part of a private, not-for-profit institution which is regionally accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges Senior College and University Commission.[2]

Flashpoint Chicago received the authority to grant A.A.S. degrees from the Illinois Board of Higher Education on February 5, 2010; and received the authority to grant B.S. degrees in 2014.[3][non-primary source needed]
