Trichogaster is a genus of gouramis native to South Asia from Pakistan to Myanmar.^[1] Species of this genus are very popular in the aquarium trade.

There are currently four recognized species in this genus:^[1] (Note that while FishBase also includes the moonlight gourami in this genus, most other sources include it in the genus Trichopodus.)
