Turkeycock Mountain
Turkeycock Mountain is a mountain summit located in Franklin County, Virginia and Henry County, Virginia. Rising out of the eastern foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Turkeycock Mountain rises to 1,657 feet (505.05 meters) above sea level and is located at latitude - longitude coordinates of N 36.829028 and W -79.686976.[1]
The Samuel Calland (150-1808) family home had 22 rooms and was situated at the foot of the Turkeycock Mountain. "All that remains of the large Calland home is a story and a half, six-room structure with earthen basement. Still prominent is the high ceiling in the main room, pine wainscoting, a corner staircase leading to an upstairs bedroom and the tall brick chimney."[2]
