Turnberry is a golf resort on the Atlantic Coast of Scotland. It is located in South Ayrshire as part of The Westin Turnberry Resort, a five-star hotel with membership in the exclusive Leading Hotels of The World group- which documents the world's finest hotels and resorts. The golf course is a commercial operation which is open to the public as part of the hotel.

There are three golf courses:

Turnberry Lighthouse built on the ruins of Turnberry Castle on the edge of Turnberry Golf Course
  • The Ailsa Course, which was ranked eighth in Golf Digest's 2007 list of the "100 Best Golf Courses Outside the United States." It has staged The Open Championship three times. The winner in 1994 was Nick Price, 1986 Greg Norman and in 1977 Tom Watson won a famous Open Championship duel against Jack Nicklaus. The course is next scheduled to host the Open in 2009.[1]
  • The Kintyre Course: eighteen holes.
  • The Arran Course: nine holes.

Turnberry also features "The Colin Montgomerie Links Golf Academy", a 5 star hotel dating from 1906, lodge and cottage accommodation, and the usual facilities of an upmarket country club style resort.
