Tympanobasis (Ancient Greek: Τύμπανο + βάσις) is a genus of moths of the Noctuidae family. The described three species live in Central America, in areas of Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama. The species that go by the names tumicosta, plerogoneis and thyrsipalpis were described by Hampson in 1926. As too little is known of them, they have not been evaluated by their scarcity and thus are not included in the IUCN Red List.
