Uchalan is a village which located at south of Burdwan (Barddhaman) district on Arambagh-Burdwan highway in West Bengal state, India.

Demographics

As of 2011 India census Uchalan had a population of 6806. Males constitute of 58% of the population and females 42%. Uchalan has an average literacy rate of 76%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy rate is 82%, and female literacy is 69%. Uchalan is a historical village, where remain of Mughal Battle (Fort) is found. A large man-made lake measuring 62 acre situated towards North-South at the heart of this village. This lake at Uchalan which is dug by King Sher Shah Suri during his rule (1540 A.D.-1545 A.D.) in India. There were Mughal Inn (Sarai khana) at the bank of lake which was converted to daak-bungalow (post office) during British rule.

Uchalan is a vast and developing village where it has one higher secondary school, two government recognized primary schools, and two private schools for primary education. There is a one sub-post office, two nationalised banks, one petrol pump, seventeen rice mill, one animal health center, one State government circle office, and one state government affiliated library is located.
