Ursem is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Koggenland, and lies about 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) east of Alkmaar and 30 kilometres (19 mi) north of Amsterdam and 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) west from Hoorn.

Ursem was a separate municipality until 1979, when the new municipality of Wester-Koggenland was created.[1]

In 2001, the village of Ursem had 2142 inhabitants. The built-up area of the village was 0.59 km², and contained 789 residences.[2] The statistical area "Ursem", which also can include the peripheral parts of the village, as well as the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 2160.[3]
