C.N. Ramamurthy (C.N Ramamurthy, born February 14, 1957) is a social justice activist and Tamil Nadu politician with a Master's degree in Commerce and a Bachelor's degree in Law. In the 1980s, he was the general secretary of the Vanniyar Sangh, later the founding president of the Vanniyar Federation, and the founding president of the All India Workers' Development Party. Affectionately called CNR by all. C.N. Ramamurthy M.Com., B.L.,

History

He was born on 14th February 1957 in the village of Soonampedu in Chengalpattu district of Tamil Nadu. His father was Nateshakounder and his mother was Rattinammal. His siblings are two brothers.

Education and Career

Graduated in Master of Commerce Bachelor of Laws (M.Com., B.L.) C.N. Ramamurthy. Since his student days in the 1970s, he has been socially concerned and resolved various problems. Later, in 1980, he led several struggles to restore the right to education and employment opportunities in the Vanniyar community, and was then the general secretary of the Vanniyar Sangh. Then in 1989, 108 castes including Vanniyar were united and MBC was given 20% quota when the Chief Minister signed an agreement with the kalaignar.

For the betterment of the people, CNR, Vazhappadiyar and Vanniyar Adikalar jointly formed an organization called Vanniyar Munnetra Sangam and through this they put forward various demands to the government and took many steps. After the death of Vazhapadiyar and Vanniyar Adikala, the Vanniyar Sattriyar Sangam was established by the CNR. After that C.N. Ramamurthy united the various scattered Vanniyar organizations and formed a movement called the Vanniyar Federation. Thus, in 2010, Vanniyar filed the first three cases in the Madras High Court for the betterment of the people.

After the final verdict, in 2018, Vanniyar Public Property Welfare Board Act 44 was passed with the approval of the President and came into force. 2021 issued on the basis of 10.5% CNR apportionment of Vanniyar internal allocation and GO.NO 35/2012 was issued following the recommendation of the Commission. Even though it was rejected for some reason, he is still fighting the legal battle. Later he registered with the Election Commission and founded the All India Patali Munnetra Party.

Works and Other Services

In the 1980s, Vanniyar led several struggles for quota.

  1. The NLCIL Neyveli 3rd mine management took the land and what should be done to improve the [1] of the people and increase the employment economy.
  2. In 2010, he filed the first three cases in the High Court on behalf of the Vanniyar Federation for the benefit of the Vanniyar people.

Vanniyar Public Property Welfare Board (WP NO 26565/2011)

The Vanniyar Public Property Welfare Board (240 10 Lakh Crores combined in the Vanniyar Trust) was enacted as the 44th Act with the President's approval in 2018 after the final order of the court by fighting a sickening battle through the court. Even today, it is not functioning properly and he is leading a legal struggle for this.

He is fighting a legal battle to recover all the assets of Alwandar Nayakkar Foundation from the control of Hindu Charity Department and merge them with Vanniyar Public Property Welfare Board.

Vanniyar filed a case in the court that separate funds should be earmarked in the government's financial statement for the improvement of people's livelihood. He is still fighting with intellectual weapons to implement this

Struggle Journey

  • He was one of the early youth leaders of the Vanniyar Sangam when it was formed.
  • The activities of the Vanniyar Sangh to all the Vanniyar villages in Tamil Nadu highlighted the importance of the Vanniyar reservation and increased the growth of the Sangh by traveling to all the district villages where the Vanniyars live for many years to set up a branch of the Sangh.
  • 15/03/1986 C.N. started a hunger strike on reservation vanniyar disappointment before Chennai fort. It was held under the leadership of Ramamurthy .
  • On 06/05/1986, a one-day road blockade was held at Moratand near Korimedu under the leadership of CNR, demanding reservation [2] commensurate with the population of Tamil Nadu.
  • 28/08/1986 CNR led black flag protest against the then Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MGR at Madhuranthakam.
  • 19/12/1986 Tamil Nadu Central Railway Station protest protest led by CNR demanding the implementation of the recommendations of the Zonal Committee and reservation according to population.
  • 18/08/1987 from Vellore to Chennai Fort under the leadership of CNR, walking with about 5 thousand volunteers to free the five leaders, namely Putha Elangovan, Putha Arulmozhi, Arani Rajendran, Arani Tarasingh and Neyveli Vazaichselvan, who were imprisoned under the gangster act. came and requested the Governor of the day [3] . After that the Chief Minister appealed to them and released them.
  • From 17/09/1987 to 23/09/1987, a seven-day road strike was held all over Tamil Nadu to fulfill the five-point demand including Vanniyar quota. R took the leadership in Vazaipadi, Salem district.
  • Since 1988, the Vanniyar Women's Conference has been held at Poompugarh. He played an important role in holding this conference.
  • On 17/01/1989, CNR led the assembly election boycott protest against the non-grant of quota to the Vanniyyas.
Fighters

In 1989, 25 martyrs lost their lives in a seven-day road blockade in 1987 when former Chief Minister Kalainar's regime was established. In the context of losing the livelihood of their families, CNR requested the then Chief Minister Kalainar for three lakh rupees ex-gratia and monthly assistance of 3000 rupees for the 25 families and recognition of the 25 martyrs who sacrificed their lives as aggressors.

In 1989, due to the sacrifice of 25 martyrs as a result of the railway strike, 108 castes including the Vanniyars merged to form MBC and 20% quota was given by the Chief Minister of the day. In this agreement, the artist as the chief minister and C.N. as the general secretary of the Vanniyar Association. Ramamurthy also signed the agreement.

Patali People's Party Inauguration Ceremony

On 16/07/1989, the inauguration ceremony of Patali People's Party was started in the presence of lakhs of people at Chennai Marina beach. One of the main leaders who started the party.

In the 1990s, for the betterment of society and the people of the community, he met the then chief minister and minister many times and made various demands and fought for social justice and people's livelihood.

Thermal power station

In 2008, armed with intellectual weapons, he organized several protests to set up a thermal power plant in Seyyur Marakanam area and told the people about its benefits.

Industrial employment

In 2009, he made a demand to give employment to the local people first in the hospitality industries located in Seiyaru taluka area of Tiruvannamalai district and after many struggles, he succeeded in that too.

Kallakurichi District

In 2009, taking into account the economic and administrative situation of the people, he led several protests to form a separate district from Villupuram district with Kallakurichi as the headquarter and to build a railway station there.

Ramasamy Brigade

In 2001, the then Chief Minister made a request to erect a statue of Indian freedom fighter and leader Ramaswamy Padayatshiar at the artist's place.

CNR continued to negotiate with the Tamil Nadu government and announced that the birthday of Ramasamy Padayatshi should be declared as a state festival in 2018.

Every year on September 17, Vanniyar Revolution Day is observed to honor the memory of 25 martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the Vanniyar reservation struggle. He conducts Sambu Maharishiya every year for the welfare of Vanniyars. This is celebrated as Vanniyar Avatara festival. N.R.

On 4/03/201 he decided to adopt 25 families who sacrificed their lives for Vanniyar quota in 1987 and build houses at an estimated cost of Rs.10 lakhs. Initially, he started building houses for the families of three martyrs. Abandoned midway due to some mishaps.

For more than 52 years in his life, he has been fighting for the welfare of the society and the people of the community, and he has been fighting for the welfare of the people [4] without affecting the brotherhood.
