El cantare Fight[edit]
In Happy science, the most well-known and fundamental rituals are the El cantare fight(エル・カンターレ ファイト, Eru Kanta-re Faito)[ja], and El cantare healing.
El Cantare Fight is a practice in Happy Science as a prayer for the banishment of evil spirits, demons, and Satan. The practice is said to drive away evil spirits by making a cross twice in front of one's eyes, drawing a pentagram, and thrusting the right hand out while reciting a scripture. According to Happy Science, by performing the El Cantare Fight, one can directly receive the light (energy of salvation) of the earth god El Cantare and fight Satan.[1]
El Cantare Fight was first announced at a lecture by Ryuho Okawa in 1992 and is said to have spread quickly among his followers.
El Cantare Fight was most active during the rally for the trial against Kodansha. It is also said that it is sometimes performed before Ryuho Okawa takes the stage at lectures, etc., as a way of preparing the vibrations of the venue (creating a boundary), and was performed by everyone in the venue during his lecture at the Tokyo Dome.
El Cantare Fight is also said to be seen among followers of Happy Science, and even among staff members of the organization who do it to each other. Whenever there is stiffness in the shoulders or irritability, people interpret it as an "attack of the devil" and perform El Cantare Fight, or even for relatively familiar reasons such as "the room is gloomy" or "I have a mean boss.
Since El Cantare Fight is predicated on faith, it is said to be effective only for members who have taken refuge in it. Also, as a general rule, if one's faith is strong enough, miracles are said to occur.
Although El Cantare Fight is only for regular members, it is a basic practice in Happy Science, and is included in the syllabus for first-year junior high school students at Happy Science Academy, as an example.
El Cantare Fight in Times Square[edit]
In April 2020, El Cantare Fight and El Cantare Healing were demonstrated by leaders of the New York branch of Happy Science in Times Square under a corona-induced urban blockade as a countermeasure against the spread of the corona [7].
The El Cantare Fight was broadcast around the world via the Order's official Youtube channel and the Order's Facebook page. Since El Cantare Fight was held in the city under urban blockade, some comments from New York City residents on the cult's Facebook page were critical of the event. The New York Times, an upscale daily newspaper based in New York City, described the El Cantare Fight and gave a somewhat skeptical viewpoint to the Order's claim that faith can heal and prevent coronas [8].
